Lighting & glare

Direct sun, shadows and glare can reduce contrast or overwhelm a scanner’s illumination.

Scan angle

Steep or changing angles distort the barcode and may shorten the usable reading range.

Movement

Forklift speed, vibration and an unsteady handheld scanner reduce the time available to decode.

Dirt & damage

Dust, wrap, scratches, moisture and damaged print can obscure bars or quiet zones.

Temperature
